I will start the story of Colter's birth a couple of days before the actual birth. Memorial Day weekend I started to feel uncomfortable and noticed that Colter had dropped. I went to see my doctor on Tuesday, May 26. He confirmed that Colter had indeed dropped and I was starting to efface. He said Colter could come that week or could wait until his due date. I went home from my appointment and called my mom and told her that I just had a feeling Colter was coming that week and she should probably come to Midland. Wednesday, May 27, Mom and I decided to run a couple of errands that I had left to do. We went to Wal-Mart, my least favorite store, to pick up something I had ordered. While waiting for the slow employee to find the order I felt as if I had peed my pants. I went to the bathroom and realized that I had not peed, my water had broke.. in Wal-Mart!!! I found my mom and told her we needed to go home.. now. Kenneth was at a doctor's appointment. I left him a voicemail on his phone and specifically asked him to be careful coming home, Mom and I heard the tires squeal as he pulled up to the house. After we made sure we had everything we finally made it the 5 blocks to the hospital. We got checked in and settled and after about an hour I finally got my epidural. After the epidural I was happy and relaxed. Mom and I watched the George Strait concert and talked most of the evening. At about 10pm the nurse checked me and I was almost ready to start pushing. After that moment everything seemed to be happening really fast. At 11pm they let me start pushing and I pushed for about an 1 1/2 hours. Colter's head got stuck on my pelvic bone and the doctor had to use forceps to help him out. Colter finally arrived at 12:27am! Everything was perfect.
We came home Friday afternoon to a house full of family to help us. I don't know what we would have done without all the love and support that weekend. Stephanie, my sister, stayed for a week and helped out tremendously. My mom stayed for two weeks and I don't know how I would have survived without her. We are still adjusting but it seems to get a little easier everyday. Thank you for all the well wishes and love.
